The ICC Rule Change That Benefits India Against England in the 2nd Semi-Final of the T20 World Cup

The T20 World Cup 2024 semi-final 2 between India and England is scheduled to take place, however due to an ICC rule change, even a 5-over-per-side game would not be sufficient to determine the outcome of the match.

In India vs England’s second semi-final, there is a serious risk of washout. It is predicted that Guyana would have nonstop rain on Thursday, with a significant chance of rains during India’s scheduled match against England. Unfortunately, neither the two teams nor the supporters have a reserve day scheduled for the match. In an interrupted first semi-final match, South Africa easily defeated Afghanistan to advance to the T20 World Cup 2024 final, but it doesn’t appear likely that they will do the same in the second semi-final. But because of a recent ICC regulation, Rohit Sharma’s Indian squad doesn’t really need to worry about the possibility of rain.

Rain is predicted to have a significant influence on the second semi-final between India and England in Guyana, according to Accuweather. There is still a significant probability that the match will be a total washout unless something extraordinary occurs.

According to Accuweather, there is a 90% chance of rain on Thursday, thus there is very little likelihood of no rain at all. Although a game of five overs per side is normally considered sufficient to determine the outcome, in the semi-finals, a minimum of ten overs per side will be needed to finish the match.

This is the first T20 World Cup rule that the ICC has implemented. Previously, a match of five overs each side was thought to be sufficient to produce a result.

It could be challenging for the authorities to set up even a 10-over-per-side competition given the Guyana weather forecast. On the other hand, India will gain from the regulation reform.

India will go to the final because they won their Super Eight group and will advance if the game is abandoned or neither team can bat for ten overs.
