Following an injury sustained during India’s T20I series against England in February by former RR colleague and England pacer Jofra Archer, Samson had surgery on his right index finger. He only played as a specialist batter in the first three games for the Rajasthan Royals, with Riyan Parag captaining the team. Samson scored 66, 13, and 20 runs while being substituted out in the matches against Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders, however he was brought on during RR’s season opener against Sunrisers Hyderabad.”Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson has received clearance from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to resume wicketkeeping duties following a period of recovery,” the Rajasthan Royals announced in a press release.
“The NCA medical team thoroughly evaluated his fitness before granting the permission. Samson will assume full leadership responsibilities and captain the team again starting in their upcoming game against the Punjab Kings as a result of this encouraging development. With one victory and two losses in three games, the Rajasthan Royals are presently ranked second-to-last in the standings.at their next game, the 2008 inaugural champion Rajasthan Royals will play the Punjab Kings at Mullanpur on April 5.
