The Sports Minister reveals the massive amount spent on Manu Bhaker’s training

Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Sports Minister, congratulated Manu Bhaker on her historic bronze medal in the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024 and disclosed the amount of effort and money she had to practice for. In the Women’s Air Pistol final on Sunday, Bhaker came in third place to earn a bronze medal. She made Olympic history as the first Indian woman to win a shooting medal.

Mandaviya said ANI after her victory, “Manu Bhaker has made India proud by winning the first bronze medal in the Olympics in Paris. She mentioned throughout the conversation that she was a part of “Khelo India.” I’m happy to inform you that Prime Minister Modi launched ‘Khelo India,’ an effort that saw the establishment of sports facilities around the nation, an uptick in sports competition, and the launch of projects aimed at identifying athletic talent at the high school and collegiate levels. The talents that were found were trained by qualified coaches, and under the TOPS program, measures were taken to guarantee that the identified talent would not have any financial limitations.”

Mandaviya disclosed that Manu’s training cost about two crores of rupees, and she was transported to Germany and Switzerland for it. He also conveyed his belief that other athletes will do well at the Olympics.

“Manu Bhaker’s training cost around Rs 2 crore. She was transferred for training to Germany and Switzerland. The financial assistance she required to engage the coach of her choice was given. All athletes are given access to this environment so they can compete at the highest level both nationally and internationally. He continued, “I have no doubt that our athletes will compete well in the Olympics in Paris.””Shooting and Archery competitions are taking place today,” Manaviya said in reference to the current events. Along with Sarabjot Singh, Bhaker will compete in the 10 m air pistol mixed team competition qualification rounds starting at 12:45 PM.

Along with the men’s archery squad, Indian shooters Ramita Jindal and Arjun Babuta will try to increase the number of medals their nation has won at the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024 on Monday.Ramita qualified for the women’s 10 m air rifle final on Sunday by placing fifth in the qualification round, and Arjun finished seventh in the men’s event. According to Olympics.com, the finals are set for today and will feature the top eight players from both qualification rounds.

Additionally, at 6:31 PM, the men’s archery team consisting of Dhiraj Bommadevara, Tarundeep Rai, and Pravin Jadhav will play either Turkiye or Colombia in the quarterfinals. The medal rounds for this division will happen today.

Bhaker won a bronze medal in the ongoing major event, her score of 221.7 bringing India’s first medal of the competition.

Manu’s redemption story began when her pistol broke during the Tokyo Olympics. She created history by being the first Indian woman to compete in an individual Olympic shooting event since Suma Shirur in 2004 and the first to do so in 20 years.

Ye Jin of South Korea set an Olympic record with 243.2 points to win the gold medal. Kim Yeji, a fellow countryman, had to settle for silver with 241.3 points.
