Speaking to the media prior to the Fifth Test in Dharamsala, Rohit Sharma struck out Ben Duckett’s comment that “England should get credit for Yashasvi Jaiswal’s different approach” for six.

Attending the press conference on the eve of the fifth Test match between India and England in Dharamsala, skipper Rohit Sharma was in no mood to back down from challenges. When asked about England batter Ben Duckett’s remark that the visiting team should be given credit for Yashasvi Jaiswal’s attacking prowess, Rohit strongly reminded everyone of Rishabh Pant. After hitting sixers during Wednesday’s press conference, Rohit did not hold back when he said to the England team—particularly to Ben Duckett—that it is likely they haven’t seen Rishabh Pant bat.

Regarding the England batter’s remark, Rohit responded, “There was a guy called Rishabh Pant in our team, probably Ben Duckett hasn’t seen him play.”

So far in 4 matches, Yashasvi Jaiswal has amassed 655 runs at an average of 94.57 and a strike-rate of 78.63, making him the leading scorer for India in this series. Watching the teenage Indian batsman smash boundaries in the Rajkot Test, Duckett had said that Jaiswal’s style of play in this series has been largely influenced by the England team’s ‘Bazball’ style of play.

“When you see players from the opposition playing like that, it almost feels like we should take some credit that they’re playing differently than how other people play Test cricket,” remarked Duckett.

Duckett’s comment was not only offensive to Rohit. Nasser Hussain, a former England captain, has already condemned the player’s remarks.
“He hasn’t learned from you. He has learned from his environment and the hard work he had to put in growing up. If anything, lads, watch him and learn from him. I hope there’s some self-reflection going on.

If not, it turns into a cult; Bazball and this government have occasionally been compared to such, where criticism from the outside is not allowed,” Hussain had stated on Sky Sports.
