Babar Azam’s tenure as white-ball captain appears to be coming to an end.
Basit Ali, a former Pakistan cricketer, believes Mohammad Rizwan to succeed Babar Azam as the Men in Green’s captain. Babar’s tenure as white-ball captain may be coming to an end. Recently, reports have surfaced suggesting that Rizwan is the leading candidate to succeed Babar. Fans and former Pakistan cricketers have had various reactions to the reports. Basit supported Rizwan to lead the Pakistan squad after watching him skipper Markhors against Stallions in the Champions One-Day Cup.
He emphasized Rizwan’s ability to judge the character of the pitch, something Babar and Test skipper Shan Masood do not possess.
“Rizwan’s leadership of the team shown that there is no finer skipper. He demonstrated that with his captaincy. He read the pitch; this is a big deal. That is something that Babar is incapable of doing. I am not even mentioning Shan. If you don’t make him captain right now, Pakistan will suffer. “This is the best time to make Rizwan captain,” Basit declared on his YouTube channel. After posting a respectable score of 231, the Stallions took command when Rizwan threw the ball to Shahnawaz Dahani to bowl the eighth over.
With a variety of shots, Babar hit five straight fours off Dahani, and the Stallions raced to 47/1, appearing well positioned to chase down the target.
Rizwan switched tactics, and he didn’t pass the ball to Dahani for the rest of the game. While looking for a breakthrough, he switched up his bowling lineup, using spinners and pacers alike.
Naseem Shah rattled Shan Masood’s stumps to put Markhors back in the game. The solitary wicket caused the Stallions to collapse like a house of cards, collapsing at 105 in 23.4 overs. The spin combo of Zahid Mahmood (5/18) and Salman Ali Agha (3/21) pounded the Stallions batsmen to secure a 126-run triumph.
