Rohit Sharma was not present in the IPL captains’ group photo with the trophy on the eve of the 2023 season opener.
The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League is going to start on March 31 when the title holders, the Gujarat Titans, go up against the Chennai Super Kings in Ahmedabad. Before the season opener, the captains of all the franchises gathered at the Narendra Modi Stadium for a picture with the IPL trophy. But in that picture, the captain of the Mumbai Indians was absent. His absence from the picture drew fans’ attention on social media. The group picture of all the captains with the trophy was shared on the official Twitter account of the IPL, but many fans had the same question: where is Rohit Sharma?
Some of the fans called “disrespect” to Rohit Sharma as the picture was taken without featuring him, while others flooded the social media platform with complaints over his absence. One of the fans wrote, “We all have one friend who does not attend the class but still tops the exam.” As another fan shared a gif of Hrithik Roshan on Twitter saying Rohit Sharma with five trophies, “Main bachchon se baatnahikarta.”
The Mumbai Indians faced their worst IPL season in 2022 as they finished at the bottom of the table with only four wins in 14 matches. In the upcoming season, the team will be missing JaspritBumrah, who is going to remain absent because of his back injury.
