After recording a video that seemed to make fun of Pakistani captain Mohammed Rizwan’s English, former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg has come under fire.
Brad Hogg, a former World Cup winner for Australia, has gone viral online for the wrong reasons. Now a well-known commentator and broadcaster, the 54-year-old has come under fire for making fun of Pakistan’s ODI skipper, Mohammad Rizwan. On social media, a video showing Hogg filming a fictitious interview with a person posing as Rizwan has gone viral. In the video, the actor portraying Rizwan appears to make fun of his proficiency in English. Online fans have been very critical of Hogg’s participation in the video.
“We on the subcontinent need to abandon this colonial mentality. Our mother tongue and language is not English. Additionally, it is recommended that our players speak Urdu and bring a translator. This, not English, is our pride as a nation. “Ex-cricketers’ pathetic lack of professionalism!” one person commented.
“I think Australians would be ashamed of Brad hogg now,” another person commented.
This is awful. Brad Hogg ought to refrain from doing that. A third person said, “Players are at that level for their cricketing skills, not their ability to communicate in English.”
False. Someone cannot be publicly humiliated. “Not done in the right spirit,” someone else remarked.
Mohammed Rizwan, the captain of Pakistan, has been the target of numerous internet jokes, especially after his country’s elimination from the Champions Trophy 2025 group round. Rizwan’s ability to speak English has been one of his most ridiculed traits.
As a member of the all-conquering Australia teams that won the 2003 and 2007 ODI World Cups, Brad Hogg, on the other hand, has won the World Cup twice.
Hogg got 156 wickets during his 123 ODI appearances for Australia. He has also played in the Indian Premier League (IPL), turning out for Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
