On Saturday, Vinesh Phogat arrived at the Delhi Airport to a boisterous welcome upon his arrival in the nation’s capital.
Wrestler Vinesh Phogat expressed her gratitude to the public for showing her such love and respect upon her arrival in the nation’s capital on Saturday, following her thunderous welcome at the Delhi Airport. Following Vinesh’s arrival in Delhi today, she was joined on a roadshow by Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda, Sakshi Malik, and Bajrang Punia. “I am grateful for this love and respect I have received from my countrymen,” Vinesh said in an interview with ANI.
According to Bajrang Punia, Vinesh has been greeted like a hero. Additionally, he thanked everyone for their support. “Vinesh Phogat is receiving a hero’s welcome. The entire nation witnessed Vinesh’s ascent from the pavement to the podium. We are grateful to all of our compatriots,” Bajrang said to ANI.
Sakshi Malik expressed her wish that people would continue to respect Vinesh, saying that he has done a great deal for women and the country.
It’s a huge day today. It is admirable what Vinesh has accomplished for all women and the country. Sakshi remarked, “I just hope people will continue to respect her—after all, she is an Olympic champion in our eyes.”
During today’s airport welcome, the wrestler who was born in Haryana became emotional and started crying.
Vinesh had made Olympic history as the first Indian female wrestler to reach the finals in Paris. However, after it was discovered that she weighed 100 grams overweight, she was disqualified from the 50 kg gold medal match. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) denied her request to get a shared silver medal on Wednesday. One day after being disqualified, on August 8, she declared her retirement from professional wrestling.
The 29-year-old was greeted by a sizable gathering at the Delhi Airport. When she arrived in the nation’s capital, admirers showered her with flowers.
To announce her intention to retire from wrestling, Vinesh wrote an emotional post on August 8. “I was defeated by Maa in our wrestling match. Please accept my apology; I have broken both your dream and my bravery. Now I am completely exhausted. Adieu to Wrestling from 2001 to 2024. Phogat wrote in her message, “I will always be grateful to you all for your forgiveness.”
