In Ayodhya, people flocked to a Virat Kohli impersonator to take photographs, and the entire episode was captured on camera, which has gone viral on social media.
Star batsman for the Indian cricket team, Virat Kohli, withdrew from the first two Test matches of the forthcoming five-match series against England on Monday, claiming “personal reasons.” Although they were invited to the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha ceremony in Ayodhya, Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma chose not to attend. On the other hand, people flocked to a Kohli doppelganger to take selfies, and a video of the whole thing went viral on social media. The video demonstrated how fans were ecstatic to see the person who appeared to be a close replica of Virat Kohli, and how many people had gathered around him to meet and take selfies.
As for Kohli, he withdrew from the first two Test matches against England on Monday, citing personal concerns that “demand his presence and undivided attention”.
Before the start of the five-match series in Hyderabad on January 25, the BCCI asked the media and fans to hold off on guessing as to why he took the forced break. The Board announced that it will shortly name the star batter’s replacement.
Shah added that the BCCI has faith in the team’s capacity to produce results even in the absence of its top batter and fully supports its star player.
“The BCCI respects his decision and the Board and team management has extended its support to the star batter and is confident in the abilities of the remaining squad members to step up and deliver commendable performances in the Test series,” added the secretary.
Also, he asked everyone to be considerate of Kohli’s privacy.
“During this period, the BCCI asks the public and media to respect Virat Kohli’s privacy and to avoid making assumptions about the nature of his personal reasons.
“The focus should remain on supporting the Indian cricket team as they embark on the upcoming challenges in the Test series,” Shah stated.
