Virat Kohli’s RCB made an incredible comeback to finish fourth in the IPL 2024 playoffs after just almost making it out of the running.

Virat Kohli, as someone who believes in his own ability and his teams, is not the type of person to leave things to chance. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru stalwart, a talismanic player, maintained faith in himself and his teammates despite suffering seven defeats in the first eight games of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. However, RCB went on to win six consecutive games to go to the playoffs, thanks to a higher Net Run Rate than their opponents, the Chennai Super Kings. As supporters celebrated RCB’s advancement, a video surfaced on social media in which Kohli discussed his ‘1 percent idea’, which became a reality on Saturday.

Kohli can be heard in the video speaking to a group of young people about the power of belief, even if the chances of success are only one percent. In the IPL 2024 season, RCB’s prospects of finishing among the top four sides were comparable, but the Faf du Plessis-led team gradually changed the ‘severe odds’ in their favour.

“There is a one percent chance, and sometimes that’s enough. What counts is how you perceive that 1%. Are you willing to give it everything you’ve got to turn that one into ten, and then ten into thirty? “Something magical might emerge from it,” Virat remarked in the video.

How RCB confirmed their IPL playoff berth:

RCB’s solitary victory came against Punjab Kings in the first half of the league season, after which they lost their next six matches and were eliminated from the playoffs. However, with to their victory in the next six games and other favorable results, the Bengaluru team qualified for the playoffs on the basis of a higher Net Run Rate. RCB were equal with CSK and Delhi Capitals on 14 points, but advanced to the knockout stage due to their slightly higher NRR.
