Cricket players that criticized the anti-India remarks made by a Maldivian government official included Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Suresh Raina, and Irfan Pathan.

Indians are furious about the contentious remarks made about India by well-known people in the Maldives. Renowned cricket players such as Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Irfan Pathan, Suresh Raina, and others have denounced the ‘racist’ comments directed at India and urged their fellow countrymen to discover the splendour of India’s beaches. The negative and “anti-Indian” comments made by Maldivian ministers, leaders, and other public figures during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the union territory of Lakshadweep have sparked a controversy.

The unjustified remarks made about India and Prime Minister Modi prompted a stern response from former India opener Virender Sehwag.

“There are so many undiscovered locations in Bharat that have so much promise with some infrastructure support, whether it be the stunning beaches of Udupi, Paradise Beach in Pondi, Neil and Havelock in the Andaman, or many more fantastic beaches around our country. As we know, Bharat has turned all Aapda into Avsar. The Maldivian ministers’ jab at our nation and Prime Minister is a perfect opportunity for Bharat to build the infrastructure needed to attract tourists and strengthen our economy. Kindly let me know which gorgeous, undiscovered spots are your favorites “on X.

“Having traveled the world since I was 15, every new country I visit reinforces my belief in the exceptional service offered by Indian hotels and tourism,” former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan wrote. It is discouraging to hear disparaging statements regarding the exceptional hospitality of my birthplace, even though I admire the cultures of all nations.”
Former Indian batter Suresh Raina called on Indians to tour Indian islands and band together against the hateful Maldives. The Maldives’ criticism, according to Raina, is distressing, particularly in light of India’s substantial economic, crisis management, and other contributions to the Maldives.
The time to explore the Indian Islands, he said, is now.
“I saw statements made by well-known Maldivian public personalities that were vile and bigoted toward Indians. Witnessing such hostility is depressing, especially in light of India’s substantial contributions to their economy, crisis management, and numerous other areas. “I think it’s important to prioritize our self-respect,” he wrote in a post on X, “having visited the Maldives several times and always expressing admiration for the destination’s beauty.”
“Considering the recent occurrences, let’s come together and decide to #ExploreIndianIslands in order to support our own thriving tourism sector. The wonderful experiences that our own country has to offer should be honored and valued, Raina continued.
Notably, former cricket player Aakash Chopra expressed his thoughts on the subject on social media.
A section of the manifesto was titled “India Out.” Maldivians cast their votes in favor of it. It is now up to us Indians to make informed decisions. My family, I’m sure, will. On X, Akash Chopra wrote, “Jai Hind.”
Former cricket player Sachin Tendulkar previously praised Sindhudurg, a coastal town in Maharashtra, on social media for its stunning beaches and unspoiled islands.
“It’s been 250 days since my 50th birthday was celebrated in Sindhudurg! The seaside town has all we could have asked for and more. Beautiful settings paired with amazing hospitality provided us with a wealth of memories. India is endowed with immaculate islands and stunning coasts. We have so much to discover and so many memories waiting to be made with our “Atithi Devo Bhava” concept,” Sachin wrote on Sunday.
On January 2, Prime Minister Modi traveled to the Union Territory of Lakshadweep. He shared a number of photos from his visit, including one of his “exhilarating experience” of trying his hand at snorkelling.

PM Modi posted images of the stunning blue skies, the ocean, and white beaches on X, tagging them with the words, “Lakshadweep has to be on your list for those who wish to embrace the adventurer in them.”

I just got the chance to spend time with the Lakshadweep community. Its people are incredibly kind and the islands are breathtakingly beautiful. I am still in amazement. My interactions with folks in Agatti, Bangaram, and Kavaratti were possible. I appreciate the hospitality extended to me by the islanders. PM Modi tweeted on X, “Here are some glimpses, including aerial glimpses from Lakshadweep.”

“I also tried snorkelling during my stay, and it was an amazing experience,” he continued. In order to fully embrace their inner explorer, Lakshadweep must be on your itinerary.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Modi also dedicated nearly Rs 1,150 crore worth of development projects in Agatti.

Notably, President Mohamed Muizzu of the Maldives is seen as having close ties to China; in fact, he ran the election on the platform of “India Out.” After coming to power, he has taken several steps that have been unconventional from the point of India-Maldives ties.
