Both the batting and bowling units for Babar Azam’s team failed to perform as expected, and the Afghans won their first ODI encounter against Pakistan. Pakistan performed below average in all three areas—bowling, batting, and fielding—leaving much to be desired. But India star Virender Sehwag took to social media to criticise Pakistan after he saw that some were exploiting bowler Naseem Shah’s absence as a justification.
Naseem Shah hasn’t played for Pakistan since he sustained an injury at the 2023 Asia Cup. The Pakistan team administration was disappointed with the way that prominent pacers like Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf performed, even though they were not eligible for selection.
It wasn’t just Sehwag. Aakash Chopra, a former opener for India, chastised the players from across the border for their excuse.
