Virender Sehwag slammed Punjab Kings stand-in skipper Sam Curran for his poor all-round performance against the Gujarat Titans.
Punjab Kings are among the worst teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, having lost yet another match on Sunday to last year’s runners-up Gujarat Titans. With primary skipper Shikhar Dhawan unavailable, Sam Curran took over as captain and promoted him to the top of the batting order. However, the English all-rounder struggled to find his rhythm, scoring only 20 runs off 19 balls. Curran struggled with the ball as well, allowing 18 runs in two overs as the Gujarat Titans easily chased down the 143-run goal.
Former India and Punjab Kings batsman Virender Sehwag blasted Curran’s performances for PBKS. In his uncensored critique, Sehwag stated that Curran would not be in his team.
“I would not maintain Sam Curran as a batting or bowling all-rounder. Because a player who does both batting and bowling is ineffective. You can win the game by batting or bowling. “Either you hit the bullseye or you don’t perform at all,” Sehwag stated on Cricbuzz.The Punjab Kings have battled throughout the campaign, whether with their bowling unit or batting. Following the defeat against Gujarat, Curran confessed that his team must now win every game remaining in order to advance to the playoffs.”I believe so (we were 10-15 minutes behind).
