VVS Laxman, India’s head coach for the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, presented outstanding finisher Rinku Singh with the ‘Fielder of the Series’ trophy following their 4-1 series victory.

Rinku Singh, India’s standout finisher, was named the ‘Fielder of the Series’ by head coach VVS Laxman after their 4-1 victory over Zimbabwe in a five-match Twenty20 international series.India concluded the series with an overwhelming 42-run victory in the fifth match on Sunday, ushering in the post-Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma T20I era.The custom of presenting the ‘Fielder of the Series’ persisted in the new period despite the absence of the reliable pair.

The medal winner was announced by Subhadeep Ghosh in a video that the Board of Control for Cricket in India released on X.

He played a video message from former India fielding coach T Dilip prior to the ceremony, emphasizing the value of fielding.

“Boys, in Indian cricket, fielding has always been crucial to us and is an area where we have raised the bar over time. In this regard, we ought to keep pushing for perfection. We all know that we have a custom known as the fielding medal. A player whose fielding has a major impact on the game is awarded the medal, according to Dilip.

Ghosh praised every player for their performance during the series while acting as India’s fielding coach. As Ghosh was discussing the value of catches, he declared Rinku the winner of the “Fielder of the Series” title.

“Another successful fielding day. I believe that every single person made an amazing effort. I believe that throughout the past five months, we have encountered a variety of situations and difficulties.

Catching is crucial, as I often emphasize. We did that today. If you take the catches, you can dominate and control the game, Ghosh added.

“I believe he says, “I stand up,” each time he sets foot on the earth. He seems to never take a step off of me and always treads on the ground. “I believe that Rinku Singh will receive this,” he said.

In recognition of Rinku’s efforts during the series, which saw him complete six catches, Ghosh contacted Laxman to give him the medal.

Playing with everyone was a lot of fun for me. I thoroughly loved it because it was my fourth or fifth series. To tell the truth, I really enjoy fielding and hitting. It’s really fun for me. It’s a great time. Running is a great deal of joy. What more can I say, then? God’s Plan,” Rinku murmured.

The first tour match for new head coach Gautam Gambhir of India will be against Sri Lanka.
