Marcus Stoinis, an all-rounder for Australia, will miss the third and final one-day match against New Zealand in Cairns on Sunday due to a side strain, and opener David Warner has been given a day off, the home team announced on Saturday.
Prior to the team’s visit of India later this month, Stoinis, who had suffered a “low-level side injury,” would receive rehabilitation in Perth.
As Australia attempts to whitewash their trans-Tasman foes by a score of 3-0, Nathan Ellis has been added to the team.
According to a statement from the team, “David Warner has been removed from the squad considering a significant workload over the next 12 months and the series being secured.”
After Sunday’s game in Cairns, Australia’s white-ball skipper Aaron Finch will no longer play one-day cricket.
