Naseem Shah struck three times in six deliveries after Noman Ali led the Sri Lankan collapse, claiming the first seven wickets on Day 4.

Noman Ali’s chances of a 10-wicket haul were thwarted by an electrifying spell of reverse-swing bowling from Naseem Shah during Pakistan’s historic triumph over Sri Lanka in the second Test in Colombo on Thursday. Naseem struck three times in six deliveries after Noman started the Sri Lankan collapse, taking the first seven wickets on Day 4, as Pakistan won by an innings and 222 runs, their largest ever away from home.

Naseem dismissed Prabath Jayasuriya, Asitha Fernando, and Dilshan Madushanka, respectively.

Noman had taken the first seven wickets, causing a batting collapse. In his 15th Test, he had a career-best 7-70 to give Pakistan their largest Test win over Sri Lanka and fourth overall in innings triumphs. Sri Lanka suffered their worst home Test defeat.

Earlier, Pakistan declared their first innings on 576-5 with a 410-run lead after just two overs in the morning session.

Opening batsman Abdullah Shafique scored 201 in an innings that had three century partnerships, including a 124-run partnership with Agha Salman, who hit an unbeaten 132.

For his first-ever Test double tonne, Shafique was named man of the match.

Salman was named series MVP after scoring 221 runs, including a 177-run partnership with double-centurion Saud Shakeel in the first match at Galle.
