Rahmanullah Gurbaz spoke with a few spectators at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata prior to the commencement of the 2024 Indian Premier League.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz, the wicketkeeper for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), made a viral gesture by giving his batting gloves to a fan. Gurbaz spoke with a few fans at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata prior to KKR’s first Indian Premier League (IPL) match of the new season. Along with taking photos with the supporters, he gave his batting gloves to a young man. The Afghan wicketkeeper-batter Gurbaz made the fan’s day by agreeing to give him his batting gloves in a now-viral video.
Last season, he participated in 11 games and averaged 20.64 while scoring 227 runs. He only amassed two half-centuries.
Nitish Rana, who took over for the injured Shreyas Iyer as captain, led KKR to a seventh-place finish in the previous season.
Although Iyer will take back the captaincy this season, there have been whispers that the batsman may miss the opening few games because of a back problem.
Mitchell Starc, an Australian pacer, was the most expensive purchase in the history of the competition after KKR paid a hefty price for him during the players auction.
Starc was acquired by KKR for Rs 24.75 after Gujarat Titans and KKR engaged in a bidding battle. Even though they used over half of their purse money on Starc, KKR still had nine more players in the bag at the end of the auction.
At the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday, March 23, KKR takes on SunRisers Hyderabad in their inaugural game.
