New Zealand defeated Papua New Guinea for a mere 78 runs, with to two wickets from Trent Boult in his final Twenty20 World Cup encounter and three wickets from Lockie Ferguson in just four overs.
West Indies defeated Afghanistan by 104 runs in their final Group C game of the T20 World Cup 2024 thanks to Nicholas Pooran’s explosive stroke and Obed McCoy’s spell. Afghanistan ultimately conceded 114 runs after losing wickets frequently while chasing a massive 219 target. While Gudakesh Motie and Akeal Hosein each took two wickets, Obed McCoy took three for the West Indies. Pooran earlier set multiple records with his explosive 98 off 53 balls, which enabled West Indies to score the greatest first-inning total in the competition. All two teams, though, have easily advanced to the Super 8s.
