In the Indian squad for the fifth Test match against England, Devdutt Padikkal took Rajat Patidar’s position.
Devdutt Padikkal became the 314th player to represent the Indian cricket team in the longest format of the game as the team announced one alteration to the lineup for the 5th Test against England in Dharamsala. Rajat Patidar was replaced by Padikkal in the squad; however, captain Rohit Sharma disclosed after the toss that the player from Royal Challengers Bangalore had hurt himself during a workout prior to the series’ penultimate game.
During the press conference on the eve of the Dharamsala Test, captain Rohit supported Patidar despite his lackluster performance in the series thus far. But Rohit himself disclosed that Padikkal will start in Patidar’s place in the starting lineup.
We also would have taken the lead in batting. With a chance to end the series on a positive note, we have performed incredibly well thus far. Comparing this pitch to the previous games in this series, there ought to be more bounce. It’s a good pitch to bat on, and I don’t see much decline in quality. Indian cricket has seen Ash as a true stalwart. This is such a great time for his family, his country, and him. On Thursday morning, Rohit stated, “We will be cheering for him to work his magic.”
