Having played for Adelaide Strikers for the last six BBL seasons, Rashid Khan is anticipated to stay with the team.

Star leg-spinner Rashid Khan of Afghanistan has backed down from his threat to boycott the Big Bash League in Australia and has declared himself ready for the T20 franchise competition in 2023–2024. Following Australia’s decision to pull out of a three-match ODI series in Afghanistan in March of last year due to human rights concerns after the Taliban forbade girls from attending universities, Rashid had vowed to boycott the BBL in January of this year.

It would not be in my interest to cause discomfort to anyone in the BBL if playing Afghanistan is causing Australia such discomfort. Consequently, I will be careful contemplating whether or not to continue in that competition,” Rashid had stated in a statement at the time.

As to the Australian Associated Press (AAP), the 24-year-old spinner’s name is included on the official roster of players eligible for the overseas draught scheduled for next Sunday.

From December 7 to January 24, that is when the BBL is supposed to take location.

The other Afghan players in the foreign draught are—according to the AAP report—Mujeeb-ur-Rahman, Noor Ahmed, and Izhar-ul-haq Naveed.

After playing with Adelaide Strikers for the last six BBL seasons, Rashid is anticipated to stay with the team.
