Deepti Sharma, the Indian all-rounder for whom the Capri Global Holdings Private Limited-owned franchise UP Warriorz broke the bank at the Women’s Premier League Auction, has been named vice-captain for the tournament’s inaugural edition.
Deepti, who is from Agra, was one of the most sought-after Indian players at the Auction. The 25-year-old, who is an important member of India’s women’s team, is one of the few players from the country to have competed in franchise tournaments outside of India. Deepti, who has six wickets in five games at the 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup, brings a wealth of experience and leadership experience to the leadership group
“As someone from Uttar Pradesh, I am not only extremely happy to be part of the UP Warriorz team but also delighted to be named the vice-captain for the team. We hope that, along with captain Alyssa Healy and the other senior players, we can help the team function properly and play some fantastic cricket. “We hope that our performances in the WPL will serve as an inspiration to the young female athletes in UP, and we are looking forward to the start of the tournament,” Deepti said.
