In the first Women’s Premier League match of the 2024 season, the Delhi Capitals easily defeated UP Warriorz on Monday, winning by nine wickets. Meg Lanning (51) and Shafali Verma (64 not out) easily got past the target after limiting UP Warriorz to just 119 for nine in the first half.
The Delhi Capitals scored one hundred and thirty-three runs in fourteen and a half overs while chasing 100 runs. Moving up to second place in the five-team points standings, the Delhi Capitals won the match with 5.3 overs remaining.
Prior to this, Marizanne Kapp (4-1-5-3) destroyed UP Warriorz’s top order, allowing Radha Yadav to return 4-0-20-4. Shweta Sehrawat played a type of lone battle, making 45 from 42 balls, including five fours and a six.
Annabel Sutherland and Arundhati Reddy both contributed one wicket for Delhi.
