WPL Auction 2023: The player auction list has been released, with 409 cricketers set to go under the hammer.

The auction is scheduled for February 13 in Mumbai.

The inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League will take place in Mumbai from March 4 to March 26, 2023. The Brabourne Stadium and the D.Y. Patil Stadium will host the entire tournament, with a total of 22 games scheduled. The BCCI has released the auction list, and 409 cricketers will be auctioned off.

The auction will take place on February 13 at Mumbai’s Jio World Convention Centre. The inaugural Women’s Premier League Player Auction drew a total of 1525 players, but only 409 made the final list. The tournament’s five teams are based in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi, Lucknow, and Mumbai.

246 of the 409 players are Indian cricketers, with the remaining 163 being international players. There are 202 capped players, 199 uncapped players, and eight associate nation players. There are 90 slots available across the five teams, 30 of which are reserved for international players.

The maximum starting price is INR 50 lakhs, and 24 players have chosen to be in the top tier. Only skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, all-rounder Deepti Sharma, and India’s U19 World Cup-winning captain and young sensation Shafali Verma have qualified for the top bracket.

Ellyse Perry, Ashleigh Gardner, Jess Jonassen of Australia, England all-rounder Sophie Ecclestone, New Zealand skipper Sophie Devine, and former West Indies cricketer Deandra Dottin, England’s Natalie Sciver, India’s pace sensation Renuka Singh Thakur, Jemimah Rodrigues, Australian skipper Meg Lanning, Indian pacer Pooja Vastrakar, England’s opener Danni Wyatt, Australian wicketkeeper-batter Alyss Healy, & Richa Ghosh Indian wicketkeeper-batter are among the 13 foreign players who have reserved INR 50 lakh as a reserve price.

The auction will begin at 2:30 PM on February 13th, with a total of 30 players having a base price of INR 40 lakh.
