Mitchell Starc at KKR earns Rs 24.75 crore, while Rinku Singh receives an IPL pay of INR 55 lakh.
Batsman Rinku Singh of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has spent seven years with the same Indian Premier League (IPL) team. Rinku began to truly show off his talent a few seasons back. He was winning games for KKR and his reliability even led to an India call-up. Though as a reserve, Rinku is still included on India’s team for the T20 World Cup in 2024. At KKR, Rinku receives a salary of just 55 lakh, despite being one of the best finishers in India in the T20 format. In contrast, his IPL partner Mitchell Starc makes an incredible Rs 24.75 crore.
Even a price of Rs 10 crore would not be enough to sign Rinku if he chooses to leave KKR and enter the auction pool. When asked about his poor pay at KKR, Rinku provided the ideal illustration of his mindset by stating that even 50–55 lakh was a lot for him.
“Even 50–55 lakhs is a significant amount. I never would have imagined that I would make that much money when I first started. When I was younger, I believed that I would somehow get even 10-5 rupees. As I currently receive 55 lakh rupees, which is a lot, I should be content with whatever blessings I receive from God. This is how I’m thinking. I firmly believe that I should not have received this or that amount of money. I am content even if I have 55 lakh rupees. In an interview with Dainik Jagaran, Rinku said, “I learned the value of money when I didn’t have this.”
Rinku is not the kind of person who thinks chasing money is a good idea. Like a saint from antiquity, he emphasized that individuals arrive and depart in the same manner—empty-handed. Thus, maintaining your ground is paramount.
If I am telling you the truth now, then none of this is real. Nothing will accompany you or be taken with you; you did not bring anything. You can never predict when time will alter. It is imperative that you return the same way you arrived, in my opinion. “Remain grounded, that’s all,” Rinku remarked.
