The Australia star has revealed the difficulties that come with competing against someone like Virat Kohli.
Nobody would argue that Virat Kohli is one of the best batters the world of cricket has ever seen. Not only do the statistics tell the story, but the difficulty bowlers face when facing Kohli speaks volumes about how good a batter he is. Whether it’s a powerful and stylish cover drive or a witty flick down the leg side, Kohli ensures that he leaves his mark with some redefined form of batting in nearly every shot he plays.
While his skills make him a tough competitor, Kohli’s eagerness to give it his all only adds to his opponents’ difficulties when facing him.
Nathan Lyon of Australia has identified another major issue when facing Kohli. The veteran off-spinner revealed that going against Kohli in a game feels like going against the entire nation.
“When you’re up against someone like Virat Kohli, it feels like the entire country is against you. If you have some success and get Virat out or create a chance, you will quickly become the most hated cricketer in the world. I had some experience (on that front) when I bowled to Sachin Tendulkar a few years ago “Lyon stated
“Virat Kohli is a superstar who has most likely been the best in the world for a long time. He deserves credit for consistently performing at this high level. It’s been an honour to play against him. I, too, want to compete with the best in the world, and Virat has most likely provided the most difficult challenge “He went on to say.
Virat Kohli will play in India’s second Test against Australia, which begins on February 17 in Delhi.
