RCB’s skipper Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli, and Glenn Maxwell all blasted blazing half-centuries to enable the Royal Challengers Bangalore set an intimidating 213-run target for Lucknow
Nicholas Pooran of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) produced one of the greatest T20 knocks of all time, scoring the second fastest fifty in Indian Premier League (IPL) history ,62 runs in 19 balls, to lead his team to a sensational one-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M Chinnasamy stadium on Monday. (April 10).
Earlier, the toss was won by the Lucknow Super Giants, who summoned Royal Challengers Bangalore to bat first. RCB’s skipper Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli, and Glenn Maxwell all blasted blazing half-centuries to enable the Royal Challengers Bangalore set an intimidating 213-run target for Lucknow. For RCB, Virat and Faf began the innings. Virat Kohli went into beast mode, clobbering every LSG bowler out of the park with his 44-ball 61-run effort, as he shared a 96-run first wicket stand with Du Plessis, who racked up an unbeaten 79 off 46 balls.
After a slow start, Kohli clobbered the Lucknow Super Giants bowler for fours and sixes, reaching fifty in the ninth over with a single off the bowler Ravi Bishnoi.
Faf du Plessis not only supported Virat but also played a captain’s innings. Soon after Kohli was fired, the South African went on a tear, blasting bad deliveries to the fence. LSG veteran Amit Mishra was the sole wicket-taker in the first innings, ending Virat’s blitzkrieg in the 12th over. After sending the ball straight to Marcus Stonis at square leg for an easy catch, Kohli returned to the pavilion.
Maxwell went at LSG bowlers from the start of the innings, raining sixes and fours. The Australian all-rounder scored his fifty in just 24 balls. Plessis and Maxwell completed their 100-run collaboration in 44 deliveries.
