Ajinkya Rahane will be playing his second county match, having previously represented Hampshire.
Ajinkya Rahane, the veteran Indian batter, is set to join Leicestershire in June this year, hoping to have an outstanding run in the County Championship 2023 and reclaim his place in the Indian Test squad.
Rahane, who led Team India to a memorable victory on Australian soil in the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar series, is no longer in the national team’s red-ball squad due to poor batting performances in the 2021/22 season.
The Mumbai cricketer is eager to put his experience to good use in bolstering Leicestershire’s batting lineup. In fact, the 34-year-old has declared his interest in both the County Championship and the Royal London Cup.
However, the former India Test vice-captain is only expected to be available for selection during Leicestershire’s away match against Gloucestershire from June 11 to 14. Prior to that, he will be involved in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.
