India’s shortcomings with the ball were exposed as Australia defeated India by four wickets in the first T20I on Tuesday by easily chasing down a daunting 209-run target.
After Australia decided to put the hosts in to bat, KL Rahul (55 off 35 balls) and Hardik Pandya (71 not out off 30) helped India record a mammoth 208 for six.
Australia romped home in 19.2 overs after dominating the run chase. The two players who won the World Cup last year, Matthew Wade (45 not out off 21) and Cameron Green (61 off 30), played outstanding innings to quickly knock down a challenging total.
Although the total was impressive, Australia’s early start meant that the game would end quickly.
