Australia Requested Practice on Nagpur Pitch Following Defeat. Here’s What Happened Next

According to reports, Australia wanted to practise on the Nagpur pitch after the first Test against India concluded in three days. They couldn’t, however.

The first Test between India and Australia in Nagpur ended in less than three days, with the Indian team bowling the tourists out twice while only batting once. Despite losing by an innings and 132 runs, Australia chose to keep their heads up and train on the ‘tricky’ Nagpur pitch. Their hopes of understanding the spin-friendly surface ahead of the second Test in Delhi were dashed, however, because the pitch had reportedly been watered.

Australia had requested that the pitch be left as is so that the tourists could get some more practise in before the second match of the series.

According to reports, Australia had asked staff to leave the centre wicket and training pitches as they were so that the tourists could practise on Sunday afternoon. They were later informed, however, that the pitches had already been watered on Saturday night.

According to report, Australian coach Andrew McDonald told SEN that the extra session was an attempt for the players to better understand the wicket.
