Following the FIFA ban on Indian football due to “third party influence,” there was a tangible tension among top players as well as notable ISL and I-League clubs.

The letter from FIFA general secretary Fatma Samoura adds that, in accordance with Article 13 of the FIFA Statutes, “AIFF representatives and club teams are therefore no longer authorised to participate in the international competition until the suspension is removed.

Additionally, this means that neither the AIFF nor any of its officials, members, or members may participate in any FIFA or AFC development programmes, courses, or training.

While the senior men’s team’s participation in the AFC Asian Cup in late 2023 or early 2024 is not in danger right now, some of the matches scheduled for clubs and age-group national teams over the following several months may present a challenge.
