The Men’s T20 World Cup, which will be contested in Australia in October-November, will benefit from having bowler Deepak Chahar on the team, according to legendary Indian batter Sunil Gavaskar.
Prior to India’s final match in the Super Four stage of the 2022 AsiaCup, Chahar, a fellow fast bowler who had recently returned from a protracted injury layoff in the ODI tour of Zimbabwe in August, was chosen to replace Avesh Khan. Chahar went wicketless for 28 runs in his four overs.
Chahar participated in two of India’s three games during their trip of Zimbabwe, taking five wickets overall, including 3/27 in his comeback game in Harare. He had traveled to Dubai with the Indian team for the competition and was listed as one of the standbys on the roster. He was observed working hard during practice sessions.
