Lance Klusener, Trevor Penney, and James Foster are the coaches of SAMP Army in the T10 Abu Dhabi Cricket League.
Ahead of the sixth season of the Abu Dhabi T10, the Morrisville SAMP Army have named their coaching staff, with the legendary South African all-rounder Lance Klusener named as the team’s head coach.
Klusener, who is known for all-round skills, has a rich coaching experience. He has worked with various T20 leagues globally, including in the IPL, where he was the lead coach of the Mumbai Indians and the Delhi Capitals. He also worked with international teams like those in South Africa, Afghanistan, and Zimbabwe, and had a stint in the Abu Dhabi T10 with the Bengal Tigers in 2021.
It’s the biggest opportunity to get a chance to be useful for Abu Dhabi T10, and I am very sure that my presence in the Morrisville SAMP Army must be helpful to get a higher position in the team. “I would like to draw attention to each player on my team to execute their energy in winning most of the games of the T10 League,” says Klusener in a press release.
More recently, he was the lead assistant coach of the Rajasthan Royals ahead of the IPL 2021, and in April 2022, he was named the head coach of the Barbados Royals. Whereas, Englishman Foster has had a shorter coaching career than his colleagues, having worked as the T20 batting consultant for Glamorgan for the 2019 T20 Blast and the fielding coach for KKR in the 2020 IPL. Recently, in 2022, he took over as the head coach for the Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League.
The Abu Dhabi T10 will be played at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi from November 23–December 4, 2022.
