The latest ICC Test rankings see Ravindra Jadeja and Rohit Sharma rise as well.

After taking eight wickets against Australia in the Nagpur Test, Ravichandran Ashwin has risen to second in the latest ICC Men’s Test Bowler Rankings. He is closing in on Pat Cummins, the captain of Australia’s red-ball team, who is only 21 points ahead. Ravindra Jadeja, who was named Player of the Match in the first Test, climbed the bowler rankings in the most recent ICC rankings.

Ashwin, who now has 846 points, has surpassed James Anderson and Stuart Broad in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and could replace Cummins if he continues to dominate in the remaining Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023. Ashwin took three wickets in the first inning and a brilliant fifer in the second to help India bowl out Australia for 91 runs in Nagpur. Apart from Ashwin, only Jasprit Bumrah, ranked fifth, is among the top ten bowlers in the rankings.

Meanwhile, Jadeja was named Player of the Match after an outstanding performance with both bat and ball. In the first innings, he took five wickets, including big ones for Steven Smith and Marnus Labuschagne. With a 70-run knock, he also cemented his top spot in the Men’s Test All-rounder chart. He is currently ranked 16th in the bowler’s standings.

Jadeja and Ashwin also hold the top two spots in the Test all-rounder rankings, while Axar Patel, who scored an important 84 in Nagpur, climbed six spots to seventh.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma has also risen two places in the Test Batter rankings, from tenth to eighth. In Nagpur, where the rest of the batters struggled to find any momentum, he led the way with 120 off 212. Rohit is only three points behind Rishabh Pant, with no other Indian player ranked among the top ten Test batters.
