Rajat Patidar is named as Shreyas Iyer’s replacement for the ODI series against New Zealand

Due to a back ailment, Rajat Patidar was selected as Shreyas Iyer’s substitute for the ODI series against New Zealand.

Due to a back ailment, Shreyas Iyer will not play in the next ODI series against New Zealand, according to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Iyer, who has recently struggled to capitalise on many promising starts, will travel to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for more evaluation. The BCCI did not disclose the full degree of the injury, and the NCA’s exams will determine how long he will be sidelined. For the series, Rajat Patidar was chosen as his successor.

Due to a back ailment, Team India batsman Shreyas Iyer will not play in the next three-match ODI series against New Zealand. He will go to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for additional guidance and evaluation. Rajat Patidar has been chosen by the All-India Senior Selection Committee to take Shreyas Iyer’s spot, according to the BCCI’s official announcement.

Iyer scored 28, 28, and 38 in the three games of the ODI series against Sri Lanka, however he was unable to elevate his innings. The cricketer from Madhya Pradesh, Patidar, has been a member of the squad for the most recent series and has had a strong domestic career.

On January 18, 2023, India will face New Zealand in Hyderabad for the inaugural One-Day International.
