After DC’s performance in the last match, former head coach of the Indian cricket team Ravi Shastri issued an ultimatum to Prithvi Shaw.

Ricky Ponting, who is the coach of the Delhi Capitals, was full of expectations from Prithvi Shaw after his plethora of runs across competitions in domestic cricket, which included a record-breaking triple century in the Ranji Trophy. But he has had a forgettable start to the IPL season, having scored only 19 runs in three matches till now. Because of this lack of runs, the formal head coach of the Indian cricket team, Ravi Shastri, issued an ultimatum to Shaw, especially after DC’s performance in the last match. Ravi Shastri, in a conversation with ESPNCricinfo before the Delhi Capitals’ match against the Mumbai Indians on Tuesday, didn’t talk much about the scores of Prithvi, but opined that the star batsman shouldn’t be proud of being used as an impact player only. He wants Prithvi to be in the mix and participate on the field, even though he may not bowl.
Ravi Shastri said, “I think a player of his quality and age wants to be in the thick of things all the time.” He should want to and not say, “I’m happy to be an Impact Player.” It’s not a good sign, and it won’t help. I mean, he is young. You want him to be part of everything, to be in the middle and contribute with a catch to through fielding, to get into good habits there rather than being in the habit of: “I’m only going to bat and then feet up in the dressing room.” “That is not good for a guy at his age.”
