Remark of Misbah-ul-Haq on the captaincy of Shaheen Afridi in the Pakistan Super League
Fast bowler Shaheen Afridi of the Pakistan cricket team is enjoying his captaincy time period for the Lahore Qualandars in the Pakistan Super League. Lahore Qualandars are currently at the top of the points table of the PSL after winning six matches out of seven. Shaheen Afridi is the highest wicket taker of the season, having taken ten wickets in seven games. His captaincy is appreciated by former cricketers and fans. Misbah-ul-Haq noticed a trait in the captaincy of Afridi that comes after years of experience. While chatting on Samaa TV, a Pakistan news channel’s Misbah stated that Afridi knows how to utilise his players and ensures all are ready to deliver whenever required.
Misbah said that Shaheen’s ability to foresee things is brilliant. He’s using all of his resources, even if he doesn’t need them. “It’s like keeping your gun polished so it isn’t broken when you need it the most.” He further said that, “They didn’t need David Weise, but Shaheen bowled him effectively.” Sikander Raza also bowled, as did Hussain Talat. Shaheen has long-term thinking, and one usually gets that after a long period of captaincy. He’s only in his second season as captain, so that’s something special.
While reacting to Misbah’s statement, Shahid Afridi revealed that even Shaheen had told me this same thing about using his resources in their private conversation. While talking about the Qualandars, they are the first team to qualify for the playoffs of the PSL after defeating the Multan Sultans by 21 runs.
