Mandhana missed India’s first match of the season against Pakistan due to a finger injury.

Smriti Mandhana is expected to return to the playing XI against West Indies after missing India’s opening game of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 against Pakistan. The 26-year-old was sidelined against the arch-rivals due to a finger injury, but coach Troy Cooley is hopeful that she will recover in time to face the West Indies at Newlands Stadium in Cape Town on Wednesday, February 15.

Smriti is currently working very hard, according to the bowling coach, and her progress will be monitored on a regular basis. He stated that the opener has done everything she could and that he and the team are hopeful that Mandhana will be able to play against the Hayley Matthews-led Caribbean team.

“I believe she (Mandhana) has worked very hard. And I believe it will be assessed after today, but she did everything that was required of her today. And I believe we are looking at how she pulls up. “But we’re pretty sure she got through the session today and did everything she needed to do,” Cooley said.
