Fans took to social media to criticise the selection committee for passing on Sarfaraz Khan for the first two Australia Tests in favour of Suryakumar Yadav.

On Friday, the BCCI named the India lineup for the first two Tests of the four-match series against Australia. Notably, the governing body of cricket confirmed the roster for the next white-ball series against New Zealand, which will begin on January 18 before India hosts Australia in the longest format. Prithvi Shaw was reinstated to the side for the New Zealand T20Is after an outstanding domestic run, while Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan were given their first Test calls.

Fans took to social media to criticise the selection committee for passing on Sarfaraz Khan for the first two Australia Tests in favour of Suryakumar Yadav.

Sarfaraz scored 982 runs at an average of 122.75 in the 2021-22 Ranji Trophy, including four centuries and two half-centuries. His maximum possible score was 275. Meanwhile, he has 431 runs at an average of 107.75 and a strike rate of 70.54 in the current edition, with two centuries and one half-century.

However, the Indian cricket team selection committee decided to give Suryakumar Yadav a chance in India’s Test squad, considering the player’s sensational form in white-ball formats, especially T20I cricket.

It has not gone down well with the fans though. Here is how they reacted to the selection:
