Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel stated that the team will try to add new players before the transfer market ends on September 1 but will be able to get by with their current group if necessary.
After defeating Leicester City 2-1 the last time out, coach Thomas Tuchel said he was entirely focused on his team’s opponents as they prepared to travel to Southampton on Tuesday.
We might need more players at some places right now, but the transfer window is almost over, and come September 1 I will be a content coach no matter what happens, Tuchel said.
I’ll look for solutions rather than consider what might have happened.
Wesley Fofana of Leicester and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Barcelona have both been linked to Chelsea.
“Reality and the here-and-now are all that count. At Southampton, it will be important to find a way to win, stand up individually, and drive the squad. Whether players show up or not, this is what we will do, Tuchel continued.
Last year, Chelsea defeated Southampton 6-0, but Tuchel insisted his squad must underestimate their 13th-place opponents at St. Mary’s.
“A physical game, a running game, and a high-intensity game are what you can always expect at Southampton,” Tuchel remarked. “In order to have a chance to repeat what we did last season, we need to recuperate well and be well-prepared.”
