Vinesh Phogat, a three-time Commonwealth Games winner, lost in combat

At the World Wrestling Championships in this city on Tuesday, Mongolia’s Khulan Batkhuyag stunned three-time Commonwealth Games champion Vinesh Phogat by knocking him down 0-7.

The 10th seeded Vinesh looked fatigued and lost her balance in the last seconds to be pinned by the Asian silver medalist in the women’s freestyle 53kg match, even though she had just won a gold in India’s spectacular 12-medal winning performance at the CWG Birmingham.

Before pushing the former world bronze medalist backward to the mat in the last seconds to grab four points and complete a commanding victory, Batkhuyag seized a 3-0 lead in the opening session.
