Virat Kohli’s total runs don’t concern Indian head coach Rahul Dravid; instead, he is more focused on the influence that Kohli’s contributions will have on the team as a whole.
For the umpteenth time, Dravid defended the former India captain, whose inconsistent play and below-average strike rate at No. 3 have drawn criticism.
“Kohli is also returning from a break; it’s good to see that he’s revitalized and eager to play all of these games. He had some free time in the midst. I hope he continues to improve and has a successful tournament “Dravid made this statement prior to the Asia Cup Super 4s matchup with Pakistan.
He nonetheless made the same argument that Kohli’s performance is not his main worry and asked people not to become fixated on a single player’s statistics.
“We don’t really care how many runs he makes for ourselves. People tend to become a little bit fixated with Virat’s statistics and figures in particular. It really isn’t about that for us, “The Wall declared.
“It relates to the contributions he makes throughout the course of the game. Even a tiny donation helps us a lot in T20s; it doesn’t have to be in 50s or 100s or a stat. He is very committed to giving strong performances, “added Dravid.
